In cement manufacture, for the selection, design and operations of the pyroprocessing system, it is essential to know the energy requirement in clinkerisation of cement raw mix. This heat of reaction is a measure of the reactivity of the raw – mix, if this enthalpy change can be assessed, the effect of the various chemico-mineralogical parameters on the reactivity of the raw mix could be quantified in terms of energy requirements. . A number of methods have been discussed in the literature for computation of the energy requirement in Clinkerisation . In this paper, the authors have put forward a more direct and practical method using the Differential Thermal Analysis System, for assessment of heat of reaction in Clinkerisation of cement raw mix.
The present paper is based on studies carried out on older models of High Temperature TG /DTA system from Metter . Presently the new systems are available having high Temp TG / DSC (Differential scanning calorimetry ) where heat measurements would be more direct . However the basic concept would be similar
